Who are you?

My name is Rik Heywood and I am a programmer near London (England, for you foreign types). In the past I have worked for Xara, Bullfrog, The Digital Village and Computer Artworks. Since doing all that, I have started a new company called Synaptic Soup with two of my co-workers from Computer Artworks. There is a more detailed CV on Synaptic Soup's web site for those that care.

Most of my time is spent designing and building Cipher, Synaptic Soup's state of the art game engine, but I also spend time running the company, maintaining its web sites, writing support documentation and working on Synaptic Soup's games and tools.

So what is the point of this web site? I just wanted somewhere that I could put private projects and start some form of discussion about software and games development. These are the things that I spend my time doing and over the years I have come to various conclusions about good and bad approaches to solving various problems. Hopefully I will be able to pass on some of the things I have learned to others, but I am always keen to hear about other peoples thoughts and experiences on these matters.

The contents of this site are generally written by myself and represent my own opinions. If you disagree with me, then you are wrong, wrong, wrong. Actually I would love to hear your opinions, unless you're a mad nutter that only types in capitals and thinks everything is the work of the devil.
